Time to update this blog. Nothing better than leave you with some loose notes on the last films I watched. Here it goes!

Tron Legacy (2010, Kosinski)

WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU? NO NOMINATION FOR BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN VISUAL EFFECTS FOR TRON? SHAME. Best regards, Nuno. WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU? NO NOMINATION FOR BEST ORIGINAL SCORE FOR TRON? SHAME. Best regards, Nuno. Enfim.

It's a fun movie. An extremely fun one, actually. The grid is extremely well design and the world represented within it is a visual delight - needless to say that Tron's visual effects are outstanding [the race game is awesome!]. Knowing by fact that today the Academy Awards nominations were revealed, I want to say something: Dear Academy. WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU? NO NOMINATION FOR BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN VISUAL EFFECTS FOR TRON? SHAME. Best regards, Nuno. Seriously, in five slots they don't manage to find room for Tron? Anyway, and moving on... and what is to say about Daft Punk's score? It fits the film like a glove, excellent! And since today was Oscars nominations day, I would also like to add: Dear Academy Part II. WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU? NO NOMINATION FOR BEST ORIGINAL SCORE FOR TRON? SHAME. Best regards, Nuno. Oh, well.

Kill Bill (2003-04, Tarantino)

Tenho dito.

Taking into account both films as one single piece, Kill Bill is by far my favorite thing with Tarantino's stamp. It's endlessly rewatchable, it has a fresh, witty and edgy script, the first volume's editing is sublime, it has a kick-ass score and it's filled with ... iconic characters, dare I say it. I could go on forever, really, but let me just mention that "The Bride vs. Elle Driver" scene was one of the best last decade had to offer.

Martyrs (2008, Laugier)

Deprimente.

It's probably the most brutal and visceral horror movie I've ever saw which is saying a lot, taking into account the fact that this film belongs to the New Wave of French Horror lineage - Those French guys are specialists in producing horror movies and they push this genre's boundaries with every new release - well, except for La Horde. That movie sucked. Even though it has an interesting premise, it is so botched up in its execution that it only leaves me thinking "why did this film got released?". Anyway, and sticking to Pascal Laugier's film: Even though it is an extremely provocative film in its whole concept, I would also say that Martyrs has substance. The fact that it is anchored by an exceptional performance by Morjana Alaoui makes it unforgettable. This movie's last final hour is an extremely hard task to endure. Depressing stuff.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Wright, 2010)

Conseguem ler a tagline? "An epic of epic epicness"? Conseguem?

Can you read the tagline? "An epic of epic epicness"? Can you? Well, good. Because I agree entirely with it and nothing more needs to be said.

A saga Kill Bill é simplesmente a saga Kill Bill... Genius! Concordo relativamente à brutalidade do filme. Em relação a Pilgrim vs. The World, é um movie interessante, mas também não é surpresa nenhuma pois Edgar Wright não sabe realizar maus filmes. (:

  2. Só vi os Kill Bill e o Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

  5. Sarah - O Tron é engraçado! Jeff Bridges is the man! ahah :D

Raquel - Yes! will do. :)

Sarah Part II - Já lá vou comentar :P
